Update from "Isaac Land"

Hurricane Isaac has finally past, the slowest hurricane I have ever experienced. We got back to our house yesterday, briefly, but didn't stay. No power yet and it was late in the day, but we were able to see that the house is undamaged. My studio, however, took on a couple of inches of flood water. So my task will be to start the cleanup there.

We live 2 blocks from Lake Pontchartrain and storm surges have gotten increasingly worse in the last years. Isaac gave us as much as (or maybe a little more than) Katrina did. When we got back to the house late yesterday afternoon, the water had only receded as far as the corner our house is on. While we were checking it out, the water started to rise again, probably because of high tide.

We will be at the house today, cleaning up the studio and picking up the debris in the yard. Yesterday, we found someone else's trashcan that had floated into our yard. Complete with trash.
