Orange High Rise
Another for my show, I'm getting very close to being done. I'm looking forward to getting back to the daily painting experience. I have been painting every day, but it's been all day every day. I miss painting the small ones. (I wonder if I remember how to paint small.)
This one reminded me how much the colors around a color, effect our perception of it. I had toned the canvas orange, and when I started painting the cloth I was sure the color that I had mixed was a very warm gray, but it looked too cool. Sure enough when I added the cool gray background the color that had looked so cool next to the orange tone, now looked very warm. I know these things, but it can still surprise me. Luckily I had trusted my color mix and hadn't made it any warmer.

fabulous piece and great title too.
Wow! Fantastic composition, wonderful colors!! Those dots on the fabric, Carolyn: Sweet!!!
I love the dancing spots of color on your cloth! It brings a youthful fun to a more grown-up subject.
The clementines in the vase are great! Makes me think of orange juice...
You are really on a roll! I like each one better and better. This composition is spectacular! Love the tall vase of oranges and the whole "dotted" theme reflected in the oranges, cherries and fabric. Beautiful color combos!
This painting is fantastic! It just looks like fun with the dotted fabric and then repeated in the fruit. The colors are perfect. FUN!!!
Love this painting for so many reasons, color palette, wonderful composition, and who can't fall in love with the title. Very well done!
