Zulu

In any other part of the country this little dog might have been named "Pierrot" or "Harlequin".  But in New Orleans his black and white face evokes the black and white painted faces on the riders of Zulu on Mardi Gras.
One of the things I've found in painting largely (or all) white animals, is that the subtle lights and darks in the white areas need to be exaggerated in order to create dimension.

Zulu might just have the sweetest face you have ever painted:) Love the eyes- am amazed by that little nose and am studying how you painted that- wow! All the gorgeous brushwork is just that- gorgeous.
