Ba Da Bings

Another for my show. The thing with cherries is that they are so shiny and reflective. Whenever I paint them there is a point when I think, "this is terrible" then I remember that they don't start to look like cherries until you get to the point where you can paint the reflections and highlights. Then, amazingly, they change from cherry shaped blobs into cherries.
I didn't paint much today, because Fridays my students come. Did I tell you I have 2 students? One comes weekly and the one every other week. My student today did really well, I can see real progress. That's so exciting. When someone in a class or workshop starts to "get it" and you know that you helped them.

Mood Indigo

Another for my March show. I wanted to show off the shape and movement of the tops of the pitchers. I like the drama of the piece. The cherries were not originally in the plan, but they add that certain something. The cloth wasn't really green, but hey, that's why we artists have license.

Tea for Me, SOLD

Sugar, tea, lemon ... what's next? Scones maybe? (Actually I'm not really sure what a scone is.) I enjoyed doing this little painting. (I think the lemon on the saucer looks a little darker than it shows here. But that might just be wishful thinking.)
My paying job is keeping me hopping, but this time I'm fitting in time for a quick painting now and then. I think it's going to help a lot when I finally have the time to devote to my daily painting. I won't feel so rusty. And soon I am going to have to devote serious time to preparing for the March Fort Isabel show, when I will be the featured artist.
